Here are 10 easy ways to start a healthy eating lifestyle.
1. Start drinking more water. It’s recommended to drink eight glasses of water per day.
2. Try to eat 1-2 servings of fruits or vegetables at each meal or snack.
3. Go for whole grains. As well eat brown rice instead of white.
4. Get your sweet tooth under control. Reduce the portion sizes and frequency of eating sweets. Switch to unsweetened breakfast cereals. Avoid eating desserts after every meal; instead switch to a fruit as dessert a few times per week.
5. Switch to lean meats. Avoid eating beef, high fat pork ribs and chops, regular ground beef and other fatty cuts.
6. Choose low-fat dairy products, like low-fat milk, cottage cheese, sour cream and others.
7. Look for a couple of low-fat salad dressings that you enjoy. You can use dressings with the vegetables you’re eating, as well as for marinade, dips, sandwich spreads, and whenever you can use some extra flavor.
8. Slowly reduce your portion sizes as it will help you lose some extra weight and stay healthy.
9. Read and compare nutrition label information. Look at things like fiber, protein and sugar content to help you understand what you’re feeding your body and how it makes you feel.
10. In addition to a healthy eating, increase your activity. Many experts recommend 30 minutes of exercise three times a week as a minimum for overall health.
These are some basic healthy tips that can help you improve your health. You don’t need to eat foods that you don’t enjoy because they are healthy, but it would be better for you to experiment to find foods that you really enjoy, in order to become a healthier person.
